Best Muslim Advocacy & Civic Engagement Charities
Voter-registration drives, civic-engagement campaigns, and issue-advocacy organizations — often nonpartisan but politically engaged. A small category distinct from civil-rights work in that the focus is on participation rather than legal defense.

Frequently asked questions
- Is civic engagement zakat-eligible?
- Generally no — these are not direct-beneficiary programs. Sadaqah is appropriate.
- How do we evaluate this category?
- Voter-registration totals, turnout impact when measurable, and organizational nonpartisanship (or openly-stated political affiliation). We do not penalize political affiliation but expect transparency about it.
- Why separate this from Civil Rights & Legal?
- Legal work defends individuals in specific cases. Advocacy pursues collective policy change. Civic engagement increases political participation. Related but evaluated differently.
- Are political action committees here?
- No. PACs are not 501(c)(3) and don't appear in our directory. Only nonpartisan issue advocacy and civic-engagement 501(c)(3)s are here.
